Planning and Collaboration
Before you play, agree on the following:
Order: Will you play 1-2 tracks each before switching, or take a more free approach?
BPM: Will you maintain a constant BPM, or change it along the way?
This depends on your chemistry and playing styles, but we recommend starting with 2 tracks each for better flow. At the same time, we encourage you to experiment and explore. We have had duels where (with good chemistry) tracks have been "thrown in" without any framework, and that has also worked well.
Tip: If you change BPM, it is recommended to use "Sync" to more easily keep track. This makes it easier to match tempo when verbal communication is not possible during the set.
A more creative set
F2F is not like a regular B2B set. The experience is different, and this allows for more creativity.
Be creative and play with contrasts: Try to create surprises and contrasts to elevate the mood, instead of focusing solely on technical "perfection."
Use Hot Cues and loop points actively to create exciting transitions and build up the energy in the set.
Intro Tracks
Each duel begins with each participant playing two tracks. You can decide who starts. We will receive the tracks well in advance. While your two tracks are playing, your name will be displayed on stage, accompanied by your own visuals.
This is an opportunity to introduce yourself to the audience. Choose bangers that set the tone and can contrast sharply with the rest of your track selection. Remember to fade out at the end of each set of two tracks.
